This Polis conversation allows you to comment on priorities for recovery after spinal cord injury (SCI). Scientists, clinicians, and engineers design therapeutics targeting recovery of function lost due to SCI. But since paralysis impacts every part of a person’s body and life, a variety of unresolved recovery targets need to be prioritized. Comment below (or at https://pol.is/m/7u8t3beuaj) to add your perspective on recovery priorities, and then vote on other comments to participate in a collective prioritization process.

  • arm / hand function
  • bladder function
  • blood pressure control
  • bowel function
  • chronic pain
  • cognitive function
  • standing or walking
  • sexual function
  • skin problems
  • spasticity
  • temperature regulation
  • trunk / core stability
  • mental health /psychological well-being

Note: Participation is intended only for stakeholder in the SCI community (e.g., living with SCI, caregiver, provider, researcher, funder, etc). If you are not involved in the SCI community please do not interact with this conversation.

The Computational Democracy Project‘s Pol.is is a real-time participatory system for gathering, analyzing, and understanding what groups of people think in their own words. Because this asynchronous digitally-delivered approach thrives on a high volume of participation we encourage all your comments and votes. The more the merrier. We also appreciate your help in distributing and revisiting the SCI priorities for recovery polis on a regular basis.
